5-7 Dec 2025
•
Osaka, Japan

Since its establishment in 2015, UNKNOWN ASIA has become one of the most influential art fairs in western Japan, with more than 1,600 artists having participated, successfully creating a creative exchange platform dedicated to Asia.

Special Sectors and Features
Its most distinctive feature lies in being “artist-driven” and emphasizing genuine exchange. The fair invites more than 200 judges from Japan and abroad, including gallery owners, critics, and collectors, who interact directly with artists during the preview and personally select the creators they wish to support and recommend. This system provides emerging artists with opportunities for meaningful recognition and exposure, while also attracting numerous collectors and visitors to the venue, creating possibilities for direct presentation and sales of works. Many past participants have expanded their careers through the fair, going on to exhibit at major international art fairs.
Overview of the Japanese art market
The Japanese art market has traditionally been relatively closed and exclusive, making it difficult for foreign artists to enter. However, Osaka, with its cultural diversity and comparatively relaxed pace of life, has gradually become a testing ground for emerging artists. It is in this environment that UNKNOWN ASIA was born, successfully serving as a “bridge” that enables artists from across Asia to engage directly with Japanese professionals. ls. This presents a rare entry point, offering direct access to Japanese collectors and creating opportunities to build cross-border networks and expand future endeavors possibilities
